Bowland Walks

Whin Fell

11 January 2015

A gloomy day didn't stop us from having a fantastic walk from Dunsop Bridge up to Whin Fell .  The weather did eventually clear but this was whilst we were descending Whin Fell along the Ouster Rake Path.

Whilst here you can divert to the Trig on Whins Brow, but we've done this before so today was more about the circular walk.  Thoroughly recommended walk.

Trough of Bowland

Part of this route takes you along Trough Road, which is known as the Trough of Bowland.  The road is well known locally and used by cyclists, probably the most famous being Bradley Wiggins who trained here for the 2012 Tour de France.

Whin Fell is situated on the right of the climb up the high pass.  Once over the top of the the fell the views across the Forest of Bowland are remarkable (when the weather is clear).
