Route description
Time writes: We headed up to east side of the Forest of Bowland today for our first proper autumnal walk. Our Slaidburn walk started and finished in the village and took in many nice paths, fields and farms.
Jo was in charge of navigation, so we took a couple of wrong turns but soon got back on track. To be fair to Jo, there are a quite a few stiles to find, which should be noted for anybody who is taking a dog that refuses to jump them! There are also quite a few farms with sheep roaming so bear that in mind.
Also, for those worried about cattle, there was also a beware of the bull sign in one filed towards the end of the walk.
One of goals today was to look for the little Slaidburn waterfall on Croadale Brook, but this was something else we missed today because of course I left the navigating to Jo. For anybody looking for the waterfall, it’s about 100m off the route near Myttons farm. Just follow the drystone walk down to the river.
It was lovely to get out and enjoy an early autumnal walk, especially as the sun was out and there was still plenty of warmth left in the afternoon. This Slaidburn walk is recommended for people who want to get a taste of rambling in the Forest of Bowland.
