Parlick, Fair Snape & Saddle Fell circular

It was still a little chilly but you could feel Spring was around the corner.  This is a walk we've done quite a few times but usually the other way round.  Today Tim walked along the western edge of Parlick Fell and took the steady path up to Fair Snape Fell trig.  With nothing particularly planned he then walked in an north-easterly direction towards the traditional summit of Fair Snape, which is a little higher than the trig.  (Be careful up here as the paths are not great and it is easy to head off into the bogs).  From here Tim came down along the relatively new track down Saddle Fell and came back to the parking spot at Fell Foot via Wolfen Hall Farm.

Wolves in the Forest of Bowland

You might drive by Woolfen Mill Cottages on the way to Startifants Lane, but if you don't you will definitely notice Wolf Fell as you circumvent Parlick Fell on the way to Fair Snape Fell.  You'll also notice Wofen Fall farm on the final stretch of this walk. This is perhaps because the Forest of Bowland was a a royal hunting ground in the 14th century - and in the past, deer, wild boars, wolves, game and even wild cats roamed the forest.
