Bowland Walks

Parkers Arms walk

31 January 2015

Early on there was a decent  covering of snow and the morning school run started off with my car getting stuck, so it seemed very unlikely that I’d make it into the Forest of Bowland for a walk.  But when the clouds lifted and the afternoon sun warmed the ground, the snow seemed to melt away almost instantly. So I grabbed my boots and camera, jumped into the car and headed towards Newton-in-Bowland.

I’ve been wanting to explore more of the eastern side of Bowland, and I am looking for a mixture of easy and more adventurous walks, so as it was later in the day I picked an easy route from The Parkers Arms.

I parked up in the pub car park - which is for patrons only, so make sure you have something to eat or drink – or pay £5 for a ticket.  There is also alternative parking at the top of the village.

A fair amount of snow had melted in very short time so the ground was muddy, very muddy!  If you’re doing this walk in winter, make sure you have waterproof boots or wellies!
