Littledale walk

This walk was a delightful short walk in Littledale before the rain came in.  Littledale is known locally for its bluebells which, because it was now June had gone, not a problem though because thim promptu walk only takes an hour and takes in some lovely scenery, and the views over the Irish Sea and Lake District are spectacular on a clear day.

The route takes you through fields, farms and steams, and there's a bit of road (basically the fairly steep climb back to the parking spot) but there's plenty to see - especially for the twitchers.

Park near the cattle grid near Little Cragg, which is a rocky outcrop next to the road  (and well worth exploring) and you then make your way eastwards along the road.  You soon take a right from the road and make your way through farms until you get to Skelbow Barn.  You then cross the footbridge over Sweet Back and then climb up to Bellhill Farm where you meet the road again.   There's a steep but steady walk back to the car where you can take in the fantastic views on a clear day.

If you have an hour spare and you're in the area this little Littledale walk is heartily recommended.  If you would like to try a longer walk from this parking spot our friend over at My Pennines has a 10 mile walk up to Clougha.  Full details can be found here.
