Bowland Walks

Littledale walk

26 September 2013

Tim Writes (27/04/2020): This Littledale walk was on a beautiful, late summer evening.  There’s a great parking spot on Littledale Road, where you are sandwiched between Clougha and Caton Moor, allowing for some fantastic scenery of the surrounding Bowland Fells.

Writing this nearly 7 years later is a little tricky because it wasn’t a planned walk.  I was near Lancaster and just decided on the spur of the moment to drive through Bowland.  I always keep my boots in the boot for that reason and often had some of my favourite walks.  Some disasters as well mind!

I do seem remember that towards the end  of the walk, I went a little ‘off road’ trying to get up to the rocky outcrop called ‘Baines Crag’.  Therefore, this section of the route may need a some adjusting to make it into the perfect Littledale Walk.

Apart from the end, the route is really good.  There’s a nice mix of farmland tracks, streams, Bowland valleys – and Baines Crag is an impressive outcrop that offers views as Lake District (weather permitting).
