Claife Heights

14 December 2019

Jo writes:

Claife Heights is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book ‘The Outlying Fells of Lakeland’. It is a gentle upland walk with an elevation of 277m.
Beginning in the village of Far Sawrey, the walk is a great clockwise circuit that takes in Moss Eccles Tarn, Wise Eeen Tarn and some trails through Larch woodland. The route offers some expansive views across the distant fells before dropping down to the western shore of Windermere for an easy return route, and takes in the remains of the Victorian ‘Claife Viewing Station’.
